Swaraaj Rider App — See Nearby Cabs & Autos, Choose Your Driver, Call Directly — No Surge Pricing
The Swaraaj Rider App is a free Android application for riders that enables them to see nearby available Swaraaj cab and auto rickshaw drivers on a live map, identify previously-travelled drivers via a blue icon, and call drivers directly to arrange rides — without algorithmic matching, surge pricing, or platform-controlled booking.
The Blue Icon — Personal Trust System
Unlike aggregator rating systems that are visible to all users, Swaraaj's blue icon is unique to each rider. When you open the Rider App map, only drivers you have personally ridden with before appear in blue. This creates a personal layer of trust on top of the shared rating system — particularly valuable for regular commuters and women travelling alone who prioritise familiar drivers.
Call a Ride vs Book a Ride
The Swaraaj model is "Call a Ride" — not "Book a Ride." This means no pre-booking screens, no mandatory confirmation flows, and no app-assigned drivers. You see who is near, choose who you trust, and call them. Fare through swaraaj app is agreed before the trip starts. This approach is transparent, fast, and eliminates the friction of traditional ride-hailing platforms.
